The Netherlands is becoming increasingly divided. Public debate is hardening, and many people feel unseen or unheard. Yet most people long for calm, nuance and humanity.
#VerderSamen shows that real connection does not come from avoiding differences, but from approaching each other with curiosity and respect. The campaign starts a movement in which listening, understanding and expressing appreciation become something to be proud of again. This is how we build a country where conversations stay open and we don’t lose each other, even when we disagree.
VerderSamen tells its story entirely through imagery. Left-leaning participants sit against a red backdrop and look to the right. Right-leaning participants sit against blue and look to the left. Two sides, clearly visible next to each other, without avoidance.
At the end, all participants stand up and walk toward the white middle. Red, white and blue form a calm, powerful symbol: connection does not happen at the edges, but exactly in between. The step toward the middle is shown both literally and visually.
